Innovation in the Dam was a great success once again last weekend! The North Sea Venue served well as a replacement for the Sand club on saturday night, one of the many highlights being a dancing robot on stage! Here is a video blog by Innovation resident DJ Ollie:
The vibes were electric all weekend with a good variation of styles on offer from the DJs and MCs! Here is a link to mixcloud to hear the sunday podcast from the Bulldog Coffee Shop:
Dominator and Logan D release 'Jump' as free download

DJ Turno has teamed up with SAS (Skibadee & Shabba D) to release a new mix called 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' !
Here is the mix on youtube player:
This mix features some of Turno's own bangers (Tidal wave, Simpleton, Release the hounds remix etc) thrown in with many of the tunes that are smashing up dancefloors in the raves at the moment, along with new bars by the dnb legends Shabba and Skibba, on a relentless back to back bar and flow frenzy! a personal highlight for me is when they do a section dedicated to classic dnb tunes from the past and rinse out their classic bars with them!
The album is available for pre-order and dispatched for delivery on 24th November!
EKSMAN PRESENTS NEXT HYPE 6

Eksman & Team Overload have chosen Fire for the location of their next event on the 10th January. Featuring a massive line up all for only a fiver! This time 40 up and coming MCs and DJs have the opportunity to win a set at the event in room two and room 3! For details check the flyer below!
DnB and Grime MC Storminreleases his new mixtape 'Strains' along with a video with Black Steve of the song 'Hindu Kush' on Grime Report!
The mixtape features well-known figures from the Grime scene, including Flirta D, Jammer, D-Power, Nasty Jack and Sharky Majorand also a blistering freestyle on the massive DnB roller 'Bricks Don't Roll' by Hazard as the last track!
On this 12 track tape, Stormin shows his versatility on a varied selection of very well-produced beats, from trap to bashment, with a feel-good humorous vibe that he is known for in the raves and love for weed ever-present.
Here is the video for 'Hindu Kush' featuring Black Steve:
Earlier this year in September, producersKlip & Outlaw dropped their remix of 'Wiggle' by Jason Derulo, with DnB MC and Bio-Beats head honcho Fatman-D on the vocals.
Released as a free download on their soundcloud and on dnbshare.com the track has enjoyed support from the scene's biggest DJs and thousands of plays on youtube and other sites! Recently Djs across the pond in the USA have jumped on the track, taking the sound of underground Drum n Bass worldwide once again! The track features a reworking of the original RnB hit, with Fatman dropping a ragga-style vocal hook on the build-up, before it drops into a gritty but laid-back roller!
Here is the video produced for the track at legendary DnB rave 'One Nation' at the O2 Academy in Bristol:
Last year this event was absolutely crazy! Once again it will be held at the Coronet in Elephant & Castle nightclub, in association with Definition Events. If you did not attend last year's bash, make sure you remedy that and make it to this year's! Nicky Blackmarket and Fatman have worked together on the DnB scene for years so it is only right that they put on their birthday bash together too!
Showcasing a massive line-up of veteran and up and coming artists from across the scene, this looks to be a party not to be forgotten!
Turno and Dominator's track Tidal Wave has been smashing up dancefloors for the past year and in the more recent months so has the VIP of the track, which is released for download now from the Lowdowndeep record store! This VIP and the original have all the ingredients to be hailed as drum n bass classics, with a melodic build up on the intro and distinctive drums. The bass line is instantly memorable, and the VIP successfully reworks it without departing from the original in too drastic a manner.
Turno's punchy roller Simpleton also gets the VIP treatment which turns out to be a very interesting piece, with its bassline reworked with extra notes that alter the melody of the original, giving it pleasingly menacing feel!
Where will new Year's Eve take you? The list of great events to choose from to celebrate the arrival of 2015 is heating up, including banging line ups from Random Concept, Innovation, Definition, One Nation etc!
Below are links to these events facebook pages for your perusal!
Random Concept return to the Roadmender in Northampton for their NYE celebration! Above is footage from last year! Below is the facebook event page link:
Nu Tone releases his fourth album on Hospital records and gives us a collection of lushly textured Drum n Bass rollers, utilizing many classic drum breaks which give it an old-school, yet contemporary feel. On the Hospital records website , they say that it intentionally gives "knowing nods to classic tracks and the sound of hallmark events -
from ‘Swerve’ at the Velvet Rooms to ‘Logical Progression’ and
‘Hospitality at Heaven’". Nu Tone has certainly achieved this, as any raver who attended those events can attest to.
Personal favourite is 'Tides' featuring Lea Lea, starting off with a piano melody that compliments her soulful vocal effortlessly. 'Back 2 U' places the listener firmly back in the old-school rave scene, with its distinctive happy piano riff and soul vocal. 'Deep inside' brings the vibe up to the present, with its faster drum beat, which also seems reminiscent of some Marcus Intalex tracks, although its bassline firmly stamps it with originality. 'Roundabout' is a futuristic dark bassline driven roller, and this is another personal favourite on the album.
The track 'Metaphor 6000' featuring rapper Kool Keith has some very deep synth sounds with a melody similar to Xzibit's track 'Bird's Eye View' which provides a perfect, ominous bed for Keith's mysterious tech-speak vocal.
On the whole this is a very musical drum n bass album, reminiscent of the Metalheadz era of the late 90s while bringing that vibe thru to the present and then to the future on the later tracks, and will provide enjoyment for the older heads and younger generation of dnb heads alike. Go get it now!
Here is the download link to get the album directly from Hospital Records:
It is that time of the year again! Innovation in the Dam will be held in Amsterdam in the world famous club, the Melkweg, on 21st November and the 23rd, while the 22nd will be at the 4200 capacity North Sea Venue! Also on thursday 20th November there will be a warm-up event held at Winston Kingdom:
If you have never attended an Innovation in the Dam weekend, we thoroughly reccommend that you do. With a massive and varied line up , covering the many genres of Drum n Bass, it has something for every type of raver, and being held in Amsterdam it gives you the freedom atmosphere experienced in the UK in the halcyon days of the raves before the criminal justice act of the early '90s. Also do not miss out on the podcast event held on the sunday at the Bulldog cafe! Last year it was one of the best experiences of the weekend:
Firefly has been on the DnB circuit since a young age and has been seen performing at events all over the scene from Pure Science to Innovation. This year Firefly has also been signed to Jayline's Soundbully Audio label roster, and he has teamed up with Rough Tempo resident DJ Riley for this tearing mix of upfront DnB bangers with some Liquid thrown in for good measure! Aptly named 'Fire in the Sky' Vol. 1, we are sure you will see why he is an MC to watch out for! DJ Riley provides a great mix for Firefly to spit to, with a varied selection of sonic moods.
To promote this mix Firefly has also made a video featuring succinct and clear fast flows with witty punchlines, leading into a heartfelt story of a young boy dealing with living with a mother who is a heroin addict.
Firefly has brought the fire for real!!!!!!!!
Here is the download link to the mix from soundcloud.com :
Breakin' Science celebrates their 12th birthday this saturday at the Coronet Club in Elephant & Castle, London! Any raver who has been to a Breakin' Science event knows they put on some of the best events in the DnB scene so this is not one to be missed! With a massive line up this promises to be one of the Drum n Bass raves of the year!
Check the link to the event page on facebook below:
Dutty Sounds in Chelmsford have Logan D and Evil B headlining their event doing an HBS set, supported by a strong line up of DJs and MCs many of whom paly regularly on the award winning Drum n Bass staion Rough Tempo (www.roughtempo.com) ! Here is a link to the event page on facebook:
Logan D of Low Down Deep Recordings has teamed up with fast-rising producer and DJ Dominator to release a music video of their dancefloor smasher 'Jump'.
This tune has been doing the rounds on the scene recently getting reloads whenever it's dropped, and features the iconic sample of 'Jump Around'by House of Pain on the intro and buildup.
In the video we see a Free-runner/ parkour specialist running and jumping over buildings in order to make it to the rave in time for the pair's set. This video in our opinion smashes it, as it shows the actual UK DnB rave scene in it, and not some place in america with dancers who obviously don't know DnB doing some breakdance routine, as many producers signed to major labels with no understanding of the rave scene have been doing recently.
Check the video here, and big up Logan and Dominator for repping the scene properly!
Also Logan D has released a holloween mix full of jump up bangers on his soundcloud! Here is the link for that!
Anyone who was at Innovation in the Sun this year would have heard Jayline showcase his new tune 'Willow' which sent ravers mental at the Bangers & Splash pool party when dropped by DJ Chunky Bizzle!
Jayline has included this on his new EP and this track itself has quickly become a modern classic of the Jump up DnB genre!
Alongside this banger is the DJ Ruffstuff-supported tune 'I don't rate it' featuring AC MC on the intro vocal, with a hook about achieving respect in a cut-throat world. With a big bassline and swinging beat, this banger has been getting the reloads whenever dropped in a dance.
GPS features on the title track 'Big Businessman' which is a thoughtful bassline roller, while Silent Storm features on the bouncy 'The Cleaner' which has a jazzy intro and then a deep, threatening bassline which compliments the theme of tune (the Cleaner is an assassin in the film La Femme Nikita and the hollywood version starring Bridget Fonda called The Assassin).
'Chicken Press' features AC MC again, talking about trying to leave the venue with a woman, and begins with ominous orchestral flourishes, leading into a satisfying deep bassline roller. This deep bass theme is carried on into the last track 'What's gonna happen?' which features the haunting vocal of a woman wondering what is wrong with her son/man/dad and is a nice way to end the EP.
Soundbully Audio is going from strength to strength and Jayline has done it again, providing dancefloor and MC friendly bangers, coupled with deeper rollers for the drive home after the rave. We look forward to his forthcoming album on the Biological Beats label!
As we were saying yesterday, MCs in the DnB scene have been going through a lyrical renaissance over the recent years. Here is a recent mix released by MC Panda Danga
and DJ Cludini for Halloween!
Panda Danga has always been an MC of quality, with clear delivery and intricate flows and quality lyrics and punchlines, while DJ Cludini providesa solid mix with good selection for him to spit to! Expect big things from both of these up and coming artists!
The mix is available for free download from soundcloud:
Drum n bass is an underground form of music that has proudly stayed that way, although a few artists have enjoyed mainstream chart success. To many ravers it is the last credible underground music left! From Jungle to Liquid to Neuro Funk to Jump Up, Drum n Bass is still a force to be reckoned with, even after certain short-sighted media pundits tried to destroy it in the late 1990s. Drum n Bass will never die!
On this blog we will showcase the newest tracks from established and upcoming artists, free download mixes from soundcloud and dnbshare, music videos, interviews with DJs, MCs and producers in the scene, and details of raves and events that you can go to!
Drum n Bass has become a global music since originating in London, UK, resulting in many different styles contributing to the melting pot! A great example of this is the impact it had in Brazil and the subsequent style that Brazillian artists like DJ Marky brought to the scene. Also the MCs in Drum n Bass have had a lyrical renaissance in recent years with artists releasing strong mix cds of fresh material, with bars and flows that are as deep and intricate as any hiphop MC or artist of any other genre.
DJing has also been taken to a level not seen before, with DJs using up to 6 decks for mixing, and one cannot ignore the new artists breaking through in the scene which was always notorious for being locked down, making it a continuously fresh and vibrant scene, rather than one stuck in the past. Drum n Bass has a great future ahead of it, and this blog is dedicated to covering that for the legions of ravers and supporters of the music...
